Animal Husbandry and Dairy education in India includes the 5.5-year BVSc & AH (admission via NEET UG with an ICAR all-India quota), the 4-year B.Tech in Dairy Technology and B.Sc in Dairy Science, and B.Sc/B.Tech programmes in Poultry Production, Fisheries, and Animal Nutrition. Admission to non-veterinary programmes is through ICAR AIEEA and state agricultural-university entrance tests. Leading institutions include the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) Karnal, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) Bareilly, GADVASU Ludhiana, TANUVAS Chennai, and Anand Agricultural University. Government college fees range from ₹15,000–₹60,000 per year, with private and deemed colleges charging ₹1.5–5 lakh per year. Graduates work in state animal-husbandry and dairy-development departments, dairy cooperatives and companies (Amul, Mother Dairy, Hatsun), poultry and livestock feed firms, pharmaceutical and vaccine companies, banks (as agriculture/rural officers), and research institutes, or start their own dairy, poultry, and livestock enterprises.
