Arts and Humanities colleges in India offer BA and BA (Hons) programmes in History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, English and other literatures, Philosophy, Economics, Geography, Linguistics, and regional languages, along with BFA degrees in fine and performing arts. Admission to central universities is through CUET (UG); autonomous and private colleges use Class 12 board merit or their own tests. Premier colleges include Lady Shri Ram College, Miranda House, Hindu College and St. Stephen's College (Delhi University), St. Xavier's College Mumbai, Presidency University Kolkata, Loyola College Chennai, and Ashoka University. Annual tuition ranges from ₹5,000–₹30,000 at government-aided colleges to ₹3–8 lakh at private liberal-arts universities. Graduates pursue careers in civil services, journalism and media, law, academia and research, public policy, social development, publishing, content and UX writing, and analytics — with BA Economics and BA Psychology in particular demand across consulting, research and mental-health sectors.
