Health Technology Courses, Colleges & Career Paths

Health Technology is an interdisciplinary field combining engineering, computer science, and healthcare, offered through B.Tech/M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering, B.Sc/M.Sc in Health Informatics, and PG programmes in Digital Health, Medical Device Design, and Healthcare Data Analytics. Admission depends on the parent stream — JEE Main for engineering routes, NEET UG or CUET for science and health routes, and CAT/GATE for some postgraduate programmes. Institutions include IIT Madras (and its healthcare technology incubator), IIT Bombay's Biomedical Engineering group, IIIT Bangalore, the Indian Institute of Public Health, and biomedical departments at Manipal, VIT, and SRM. Annual fees range from ₹60,000 at government institutes to ₹3–6 lakh at private universities. Graduates work with medical-device manufacturers, hospital IT and clinical-engineering teams, health-tech startups, telemedicine platforms, insurance and diagnostics companies, and public-health agencies in roles such as biomedical engineer, health data analyst, product manager, and clinical solutions specialist. India's digital-health mission and growing med-tech sector are expanding opportunities.
