Homeopathy (BHMS) Courses, Colleges & Career Paths
Homeopathy education in India centres on the 5.5-year BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) degree, including a one-year compulsory rotatory internship, regulated by the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH). Admission is exclusively through NEET UG, with eligibility of 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. India has over 250 NCH-approved homeopathy colleges, including the National Institute of Homoeopathy Kolkata, Nehru Homoeopathic Medical College Delhi, and government homeopathy colleges across Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. Government college fees range from ₹15,000–₹60,000 per year, while private colleges charge ₹1.5–4 lakh per year. NEET scores of 350–450 can secure private seats, while government seats generally need 450+. Postgraduate specialisation (MD Homoeopathy) is available in subjects such as Materia Medica, Repertory, Organon of Medicine, and Practice of Medicine. Graduates work as homeopathic physicians, run private clinics, join AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries, or move into pharmaceutical, research and teaching roles.
