About Hotel Management
Hotel Management education in India is delivered through the 4-year BHM (Bachelor of Hotel Management), the 3-year B.Sc in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, and 1–3 year diploma and craft courses in food production, food and beverage service, front office operations, and housekeeping. Admission to the 21 government-run Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) is through the NCHMCT JEE, while private hotel-management schools use CUET or their own aptitude tests and interviews. Leading institutes include IHM Pusa (New Delhi), IHM Mumbai, IHM Bengaluru, the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (Manipal), and Christ University. Annual fees range from ₹70,000–₹1.5 lakh at IHMs to ₹2–6 lakh at premium private colleges. Graduates join hotel chains (Taj, Oberoi, ITC, Marriott, Hyatt, Accor), cruise lines and airlines, QSR and restaurant brands, and event-management companies as management trainees, guest-relations executives, chefs, and front-office and revenue-management staff, with strong overseas placement opportunities in the Middle East, Europe, and on cruise ships.
