About Mathematics & Computing

Mathematics and Computing (MnC) is a 4-year B.Tech programme combining pure and applied mathematics — real analysis, linear algebra, probability, statistics, optimisation, numerical methods — with computer science fundamentals such as algorithms, data structures, databases, machine learning, and theory of computation. Admission is through JEE Advanced for IITs and JEE Main for NITs and other institutes. The programme is offered at IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, IIT Roorkee, DTU Delhi, and NIT Warangal, and closing ranks are among the highest after Computer Science. Annual tuition ranges from ₹1.5–2.5 lakh at IITs. Graduates are in high demand for software engineering, quantitative research and trading, data science, machine learning, and fintech roles at firms such as Google, Goldman Sachs, Tower Research, and Microsoft, with packages often ₹20–50 LPA from top IITs.
